Released today, the Scottish Stroke Improvement Programme 2016 Annual National Report includes data from the Scottish Stroke Care Audit. It describes the quality of stroke care in each acute hospital in Scotland, grouped by Health Board, during 2015, and measures each hospital against Scottish Stroke Care Standards (2013).

The PRECIOUS project will examine the consequences of treating complications of stroke such as infections or fever or swallowing problems, all of which commonly occur in elderly patients. Failing to treat these complications often leads to a worse outcome overall.

Sharron Davies MBE, Olympic swimmer and well-known TV presenter, is championing the Stroke Association’s 2015 Step out for Stroke series. Sharron is encouraging stroke survivors, their families, friends and supporters to sign up to the sponsored walking events in their local community.
Communication Support
Around a third of stroke survivors suffer from aphasia, a language disorder which can affect speech, comprehension and reading and writing skills. The Stroke Association has the skills and experience to help people with these communication disabilities.
