Willie is 47 and lives in Portadown. Willie was a busy music teacher, performing musician and family man when he had a stroke late one night in October 2017. He spent two months in hospital receiving physiotherapy and occupational therapy and has paid for additional private therapy to help with his recovery. But everything changed for Willie during the pandemic.

In January, NHS England announced their Long Term Plan, in which stroke has been named as a new national priority. It also includes sections on both stroke care as well as cardiovascular disease.
We believe in life after stroke. That’s why we actively campaign for better stroke care, working with politicians of all parties to ensure stroke remains high on the political agenda.
