Vision problems are common after stroke. This Lectureship will investigate the link between the tasks used in vision rehabilitation and everyday visual activities. It will also use brain scanning to investigate the effects of rehabilitation on activity in the areas of the brain responsible for vision.

Could an ARNI-based rehabilitation approach benefit stroke survivors?
Nurses are the largest group of health professionals working with stroke survivors. However, there is little evidence describing their specific role in stroke rehabilitation.
Made in collaboration with patients and staff, a goal-setting tool should be produced which is helpful to use on stroke rehabilitation units.
Stroke survivors and their relatives consistently ask for information about how much recovery can be expected. This study will look at how well a patient can use their arm after stroke, and at their brain images recorded within 72-hours after stroke. The hope is that brain images can improve our prediction of patient arm movement recovery at six months after stroke.

Stroke survivors often have very individual hopes for the future, in terms of the goals they would like to achieve. This research will develop and test a Goal setting and Action Planning (G-AP) approach to achieving personal goals through community rehabilitation.
