Stroke Association Connect has been developed alongside NHS England and NHS Improvement. Suzanne was referred to this service as a newly diagnosed stroke survivor.
Stroke is one of the biggest killers in Wales and a leading cause of disability, with around 8,000 strokes occurring each year. There are nearly 69,000 stroke survivors living in Wales.
Caerphilly County Borough Council yesterday decided not to continue funding the area’s stroke recovery service. The Stroke Association, which runs the service, has expressed disappointment at the decision.
