The Scottish Government has published a vision document that sets out a vision of what progressive stroke care in Scotland should look like. We are encouraged at what is included and look forward to working together to make sure this translates into real change on the ground.

John Watson, Associate Director Scotland of the Stroke Association, comments on the 2022 report for the Scottish stroke improvement programme.

Immediately after their stroke around 30% of people have a vision problem called hemianopia – loss of vision on one side of the visual field. This leaves them with a ‘blind side’ to their right or left. This project will investigate whether a new treatment can help stroke survivors with hemianopia to manage their vision problems.
