The Stroke Association is partnering with NIHR Programme Grants for Applied Research (PGfAR) in order to fund collaborative, multi-disciplinary programmes of applied research.

Our new Stroke Association Connect service offers a lifeline to people affected by stroke, by proactively reaching out to offer essential reassurance and information, and to connect them to available ongoing support to help them rebuild their lives.

We don’t know enough about why COVID-19 may increase the risk of stroke, for whom, and how we could stop COVID-19 patients having a stroke. This new research funding call is hoping to change this.

This funding creates dedicated time for healthcare professionals in England working in an eligible profession to develop an application for a doctoral level training Fellowship, and undertake a training programme to give them the skills to apply for doctoral level funding.

Project Grants cover the whole spectrum of stroke research - from secondary prevention and risk factors, through to treatment and rehabilitation in a clinical setting, and longer-term in the community.

In March 2020, Rontec Roadside Retail set out to raise £25,000 to support Stroke Association. Customers using the Roadside Retail facilities were asked to add 25p donations on to their purchase of fuel and groceries.
