The UK Stroke Assembly events have been running since 2011. Each year we aim to grow the UK Stroke Assembly community.  By moving the events to new locations around the UK it enables us to reach out to more people affected by stroke and aphasia. So far over 1175 people affected by stroke have attended an Assembly event.

In 2019 we held two UK Stroke Assembly events; one event in Northern Ireland and one event in the East Midlands with over 350 people in attendance. 230 of which were directly affected by stroke and aphasia and more than 50% had never attended an event like this before.

This year for the first time ever we also filmed some of the talks and workshops from the central event and live-streamed these on social media for people who were not able to be there.  Our live broadcast over the two days reached over 30,000 people!  You can watch these talks by following the links on the UK Stroke Assembly Central page below.

Share and Inspire Films

At past UK Stroke Assembly events, we've shared a series of short films called Share and Inspire films. These share personal experiences of stroke and how those affected have moved forward in their recovery or taken action.

Topics include:

  • getting involved in research
  • stroke support groups
  • becoming a counsellor and supporting others
  • taking action on stroke and becoming a volunteer
  • vision problems after stroke.
