Relate offer a free online counselling service. By using their live chat facility, you can chat online to a relationship counsellor for about 30 minutes. Counselling can give you new ideas, another perspective, more confidence or a chance to think differently about things that are happening for you at the moment. You can visit the service once or a few times.

This website has information about software programs and apps for people with aphasia in the English language.

Chest, Heart & Stroke Scotland
Aims to improve the quality of life for people in Scotland who are affected by chest, heart and stroke illness. Provides information on local stroke support groups in Scotland. Its helpline is staffed by nurses, and its community services are aimed at both stroke survivors and those who are caring for them.

Volunteering Matters
Recruits and trains volunteers who may be available to be carefully matched to individuals with support needs, helping them to live more independently at home.

DIAL UK
A network of information and advice lines and services for people with disabilities, mostly in England and Wales. Offers information on access to local facilities and services, including social support, sport and leisure. Their website has a search facility to find local services.

Different Strokes
Run by and for younger stroke survivors, this charity provides information and support services across the UK.

Disabled Parents Network
Provides information, advice and peer support for disabled people throughout the UK who are parents or hope to become parents.

Headway
Provides practical support, information and services to people affected by brain injury, their family and carers, through their website, helpline and network of local groups and branches.

HemiHelp
Information and support for parents of children with weakness or paralysis on one side of the body – whether or not it has been caused by stroke. Also has an online message board.

Jewish Care
Operating in and around London, this charity has a variety of support services for the elderly and infirm. Services include stroke clubs and support for people living with dementia and those who are caring for them.

Northern Ireland Chest Heart and Stroke (NICHS)
Supports patients and carers of those affected by chest, heart or stroke illness. Provides information, advice and runs a network of support clubs. Also has support services for younger stroke survivors.

Phab
Promotes the integration of people with physical disabilities through a network of clubs, events and holidays.

Employment

Remploy
Employment services helping disabled people return to the jobs market. Services may include training and rehabilitation to help prepare for long-term employment. Their website has a dedicated jobseekers section.

Shaw Trust
Helps disabled people to come off benefits and get back into work. Includes helping people to access government-funded employment programmes.
