Our services in Wales

In Wales, around 7,000 people every year have a stroke, while nearly 65,000 people are living with the long term effects of stroke.

Our Stroke Recovery Service is a flexible and tailored service designed to support stroke survivors, their families and carers with recovery after a stroke.

Working to improve stroke care in Wales

We actively campaign to improve services for stroke survivors and their carers as well as for better prevention, detection and treatment of stroke. We work with politicians of all parties to ensure stroke remains high on the Welsh Government’s agenda. We communicate the views of stroke survivors and their carers to policy makers, the NHS and local government in Wales.

You can help to support our campaign activity in Wales by signing up to our Campaigns Network.

Stroke Delivery Plan

The Stroke Delivery Plan was published by the Welsh Government in February 2017. The plan aims to provide a framework for action on stroke for health boards and their partners and includes a range of actions to be taken to improve stroke prevention and treatment in Wales.

We will be monitoring progress on the Stroke Delivery Plan in Wales and working with the Welsh Government to ensure the vision it contains becomes a reality.

Cross Party Group on Stroke

We provide the secretariat to the Cross Party Group on Stroke in the National Assembly for Wales.

The Group, chaired by Dr Dai Lloyd AM, provides expert information and evidence to Assembly Members of all political parties to support the delivery of first class stroke services in Wales.

Our fundraising in Wales

The Wales Fundraising Team organise various events throughout the year including our hugely popular and inspirational Step out for Stroke sponsored walks. Or, if you prefer running, our 5K Resolution Runs are perfect for both new and experienced runners.

We also run challenge events throughout the year with everything from our ‘It’s a knockout’ team challenge to Tandem Paragliding, so visit our Facebook page to find out more about all of our upcoming events.

If you work for a local business or are a member of a local group and like to raise funds for charity then we’d love to hear from you to discuss what we can offer you in return as part of your charity partnership with us.

We can also provide full professional support, fundraising materials and advice if you’re planning to hold your very own fundraising event in aid of us.
