The new My Stroke Guide forum is built so that you can use it easily on your mobile. There is also an app that you can use to access it.

Like so many people nowadays, I always have my phone with me and spend a lot of time on it (probably too much time). It is a great way for me to stay connected with my friends and family.

The new My Stroke Guide forum was built so that you can use it easily on your mobile. There is also an app that you can use to access it.

When you use the mobile app, you can post and read topics the same way you would on the website. You can also receive notifications when someone replies, the same way you would with Facebook or your text messages.

Why use the app and not just my browser?

You are, of course, more than welcome to use your browser to view the My Stroke Guide forum. It will work just as well (if not better) than the browser on your computer.

Using the app, however, does give you two main advantages:

  1. It is easier to find on your phone
  2. You can be notified when someone replies to you

When you use your mobile browser to use the forum, it means that the forum is grouped together with anything else you are viewing in the browser. Maybe someone sends you a recipe or a news article. Opening these will move the forum off your main browser tab or page.

It will still be there, but you'll need to go looking for it.

Using the mobile app means that the forum is always in the same place on your phone or tablet. So with just one tap, you're back on the forum.

You can also choose to receive notifications when someone replies to you. This means that you can get back to the conversation as soon as something happens. (I have instructions a bit further down this page on how to manage this.)

These are just two of the advantages of using the mobile app to access the forum. We know there are lots of others. For example, if you are a member of another forum that uses Discourse, you can view both in the same app.

We'd love to hear your thoughts on the mobile app, why not join the conversation.

If you'd like to use the app, please follow these instructions to see step by step instructions on how to find and install the app, as well as manage your notifications. You can also watch the below video of how to do download it on your smartphone or tablet.

We hope that the new My Stroke Guide and forum go further in helping stroke survivors to get the information they need and find a supportive community.

The mobile app is a big part of this, giving everyone access to this community from anywhere.

Saying that we know that the transition period has not always been easy and we know that some of our users are struggling with the new format. If you find yourself having problems accessing the forum or finding information, please get in touch. You can click the Need Help? button in the bottom right corner to search for guidance or send us a question. You can also contact us through the Service desk.

The mobile app is really the tip of the iceberg when it comes to using the My Stroke Guide forum. We'll be covering other features over the coming weeks and months.
