Paula, centre, is a dedicated fundraiser for Make May Purple.

Paula Smejka is a volunteer, wife and carer of a stroke survivor. In 2016 she fundraised by wearing a different purple outfit to work every day, including a feather boa, apron and even a cheerleading outfit! Paula also held a Sip for Stroke in the local village hall, and turned some of her local shops purple.

“Supporting Make May Purple is my way of returning a little of the kindness shown to us by the Stroke Association after John's stroke. Without their support we would't be where we are today. It's easy to get involved as anything goes. Your Make May Purple event can be as big or small as you want to make it - the purpler your idea, the better! This year we're hoping to hold a purple day in the village pub with a Sip for Stroke in the afternoon and a pub quiz in the evening."
