UK Stroke Assembly events are tailored towards those affected by stroke. The programme is influenced by stroke survivors, carers and those committed to improving stroke care. It includes talks, workshops and an exhibition focusing on:

  • practical solutions to support life after stroke
  • developments in research and stroke care
  • how to take action on stroke.

We work hard to make sure UK Stroke Assembly events are accessible for as many people affected by stroke as possible. We choose venues that offer the best facilities, in the right location and within budget. An Advisory Group of stroke survivors and carers help us by giving advice on what their needs are and how we can continue to make further improvements.

We're always striving to make improvements. If you have any suggestions or would like to join the Advisory Group, please email us.

If you have specific requests or questions, please contact 01527 903 930. We'll do our best to help make your UK Stroke Assembly experience as comfortable as possible. We may be able to provide wheelchairs, toilet frames, shower stools, hearing loops, large print handouts and many more things if we know in advance.

We'll do our best to accommodate any amendments or special requests if we're notified at least 10 days prior to an event. We'll give a likely outcome at the time of the request.

If a specific request is made on a booking form we may contact you to discuss this and how we can best accommodate your needs.

Bedrooms are allocated and special diets are catered for based on the information supplied on the booking form. Failure to inform us of any specific needs may influence the facilities that are offered at the venue.

As hosts, we are able to reduce the cost of the tickets for all the UK Stroke Assembly events. Reduced cost tickets are available to:

  • Anyone directly affected by stroke.
  • Carers and family members.

For residential events, tickets include:

  • Access to all talks and workshops.
  • Access to exhibition area (if available).
  • Any optional fringe sessions available on the day.
  • Lunch.
  • Tea and coffee.
  • Drinks reception and three-course conference dinner.
  • Overnight stay and breakfast.

For one day events, tickets include:

  • Access to all talks and workshops.
  • Access to exhibition area (if available).
  • Any optional fringe sessions available on the day.
  • Lunch.
  • Tea and coffee.

Facilities in each venue vary and sometimes the offering at each event may vary. See individual events for what's included in the ticket price.

Additional nights of accommodation are subject to availability. If this is required you'll be charged at the price the venue charges us. There's no admin fee or increase added to the cost.

The UK Stroke Assembly is funded by us and is heavily subsidised to reduce the costs to delegates. In order to continue to organise a sustainable event, we review ticket prices annually to ensure they cover rising event costs. The event still continues to be exceptional value for money.

Each venue has its own pricing structure and we do our best to negotiate rates that are as low as possible.

We offer an early bird rate, on some events, for cheaper tickets for those who book before a certain date. This information will be available on the event pages.

We're committed to developing and growing the UK Stroke Assembly, and provide the majority of funding from our fundraised income.

Some costs are covered by delegate fees (although heavily subsidised), exhibitors and sponsorship packages. Unfortunately, we don't cover all costs and we're grateful to those that have supported the event in the past and continue to do so.

We understand that some people might need help covering the cost of attending or travelling to an event. Bursaries are available to help some of these costs. We aim to help as many people as we can. We only have a limited budget to help with costs and the number of people we can help depends on how many people apply for support. You can apply for financial assistance to help with ticket price or the travelling costs.

Unfortunately, we cannot cover the total cost, but aim to cover up to half. To find out more about bursaries please contact 01527 903 717 or email info@strokessembly.org.uk.

A bursary request form must be submitted before the event, and an expense claim form will need to be submitted following the event, along with any receipts (where needed). Expenses are paid out after the event.

No refunds or bursaries will be given in respect of non-attendance.

Bursaries are only available to UK residents.
