The UK Stroke Assembly events have been running since 2011. Each year our UK Stroke Assembly community continues to flourish as we explore and reach further into new areas around the country, encouraging and empowering new voices of stroke to attend our events.
In 2020 we held of first-ever virtual UK Stroke Assembly events. We delivered two six-week programmes, reaching over 555 people affected by stroke of which 96% had never attended an event like this before. We worked with over 40 speakers and hosted a total of 24 online webinars.
Despite not being able to meet face to face, 2020’s virtual event brought our community together to share experiences, find support and inspire others.
For the first time, we also filmed some of the talks and workshops from the central event and live-streamed these on social media for people who were not able to be there. Our live broadcast over the two days of the event reached more than 30,000 people!
Topics from both events included:
- Stroke research
- Stroke recovery- guest speaker Megan Giglia MBE
- Making stroke a priority
- Aphasia and arts
- Sing for Stroke
