Whether you're asking friends and family to give a one off donation, or asking them to sponsor you for taking on a challenge - Social media is a simple and effective way for you to fundraise.

On Facebook

There are three ways to fundraise via Facebook - set up a Facebook Fundraiser, add a 'Donate' button to your post or donate directly via our Facebook page.

The most popular way to fundraise on social media is to set up a Facebook Fundraiser. Fundraisers let you raise money directly on Facebook and 100% of your donations get sent directly to us to support stroke survivors. This way, you can set up a dedicated page, choose your own fundraising goal, add your story (don't worry if you don't want to, we have one in the template ready to go) and then share with your friends.

Setting up a Facebook Fundraiser really couldn't be simpler:

All you have to do is follow this page.

On the left of the screen once you've followed the above link, you can then personalise your fundraising page by entering:

  • How much you want to raise.
  • The currency you want to raise in.
  • The date you want your fundraiser to end.
  • The title you want to give your fundraiser.
  • Tell your friends and family your story; why are you raising money?
  • Choose/Upload your cover photo.
  • Click 'Create'.

Add a donation button to a post.

Click 'What's on your mind?' on your News Feed or timeline and then follow one of these options:

1- Tag 'Stroke Association', click Post and then click Add Button to confirm that you want to add a donate button

2- Click Feeling/Activity and scroll down to click Supporting. Select 'Stroke Association', click Post and then click Add Button to confirm that you want to add the donate button to your post.

Donate directly via our Facebook page:

  • Visit our Facebook page.
  • Click the blue 'Donate' button.
  • Complete your payment details.
  • Click 'Submit'.

On Instagram

Instagram now allows charities and their supporters to raise money through their Instagram stories. The great news is, it's really easy to do! Simply create an Instagram Story, add the donation sticker and start raising money. Here's how:

  • In Instagram, open the camera and take or upload a photo that best highlights your cause.
  • Tap the sticker icon.
  • Select the donation sticker from the tray.
  • Select the Stroke Association.
  • Customize your fundraiser using Stories' creative tools.
  • Tap Send to. Then tap Share next to Your Story.

Again, 100% of the donations raised will come to us!
