Rebuilding lives after stroke is a team effort. Our people make our charity what it is, whether they are a member of staff or a volunteer.

Did you know that there are over 1.2 million stroke survivors in the UK and more than 100,000 strokes in the UK each year? That's around one stroke every five minutes.

With your support, we can provide peer-to-peer support to stroke survivors, provide vital services, campaign for better stroke care and fund research to find better treatments.

By volunteering with us, you can change the lives of those affected by stroke, and it could change your life too. But you don't just have to take our word for it. Hear what some of our volunteers have to say and see what volunteering means to them.

And, take a look at the benefits of volunteering below.

Meet people in the stroke community

Our stroke community is ever growing and volunteering is a great way to get involved. It gives you the opportunity to become part of a network of volunteers who support and share learning. By joining our team, you will get to meet and spend time with a variety of people.

Give something back

Our volunteers tell us that volunteering helps them feel like they're giving something back. Many of our volunteers have either had a stroke themselves or have supported a family member or friend who's had a stroke. Volunteering gives them the chance to support other people affected by stroke.

Use existing skills that you may have

We have many different types of volunteer role, so we should be able to find you something that helps you put any skills you have to good use.

Learn new skills

When you join us as a volunteer, we'll provide training in areas that you may not have had any experience in before. We'll support you every step of the way and help you build new skills.

Enjoy your time volunteering

Whether you're interested in fundraising, helping at events, supporting stroke survivors or undertaking administration activities, we'll try to make sure your experience is an enjoyable one.

Build your confidence

When volunteering with us you'll often try and experience new things. Many of our volunteers have told us that it has really helped to build their confidence and are doing things that they never thought possible.

Our volunteer roles provide opportunities to make a difference and do something you enjoy. You can also meet new people, develop your skills and support stroke survivors with their recovery and rehabilitation.
