Stroke information
If you experience pain after stroke, you are not alone. Around 30% of stroke survivors experience it in some form.
This guide aims to help you understand some of the causes of pain, including headaches, joint pain and spasticity. It also explains how different types of pain can be managed and treated, including how spasticity can be treated with Botulinum toxin type A injections, and how physiotherapy can help with joint and muscle pain. It also gives details of useful organisations that can provide you with further information and support.
